Mission Beach is a small town / village on the coast of Queensland in Australia. Mission Beach is situated 138 kilometres south of Cairns and fronts the Coral Sea. Mission Beach Town area is made up of several small villages including South Mission Beach, Wongaling Beach, Mission Beach, Bingil Bay, Brooks Beach and Garners Beach. The tourist resort Dunk Island is only four kilometres offshore from Mission Beach. There is only a thin strip of land and beaches between the sea and the mountain ranges situated just inland, being a long thin area Mission Beach coast never looks crowded. The hills inland from Mission Beach make good lookouts over the sea and family islands and Dunk Island etc. Mission Beach is the gateway to Dunk Island and the Dunk Island resort as water taxi's and ferries leave regularly with resort guests and day trippers to this island.
