Congratulations from around the world goes to Ben Southall, a charity fundraiser from the United Kingdom for winning 'The Best Job in the World'.

Tourism Queensland unique marketing campaign which was 15 months in the planning and cost approximately $1.7 million, and in return has earned Queensland an estimated $110 million in free global publicity!

Southall 34, beat 15 other short listed candidates to take out the $150,000 'islands caretaker' job after final interviews were conducted on Hamilton Island on Wednesday.  Queensland Premier Anna Bligh was on hand to make the announcement that drew loud screams from the crowd with Southall quickly mobbed by his rivals when the announcement was made at 3pm on Wednesday.

Having marketed a perfect campaign Tourism Queensland's official website scooped the international media contingent by announcing the winner online half an hour before the official winner was named.  Tourism Queensland officials were at a loss to explain the gaffe, however a representative explained that it was likely that a technical problem caused the premature announcement.

Overall one amazing campaign that has drawn media attention from around the world and put a well needed focus on Queensland.
