| Celebrating Sir Frank Moore |
The greats of the Australian tourism industry gathered this week (April 22) to celebrate the achievements of one of the industry's leaders and visionaries over the last 30 years, Sir Frank Moore.
The testimonial dinner was co hosted by the Sustainable Tourism Research Centre (STCRC), the country's leading scientific tourism research organisation, and Queensland Tourism Industry Council.
Sir Frank started in Australian tourism in 1978, was knighted in 1983 and appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1991 for his contribution to the community and the tourism industry.
The STCRC, Australia's leading tourism research organisation, also presented its highest honour to Sir Frank at the dinner, by making him an honorary Fellow.
"This evening was a celebration of Sir Frank's 30 years of dedication to the Australian tourism and, in particular, to the Queensland tourism industry," according to Ian Kean, the chief executive of STCRA.
"Sir Frank's contribution to the advancement of Australia's tourism is extraordinary, particularly in the areas of leadership, tourism education and research."
Daniel Gschwind, chief executive of QTIC, added "Our industry has produced many outstanding individuals, however none have achieved the iconic status as an industry leader and innovator than Sir Frank has."
"With persistence and determination Sir Frank has been able to help shape and advance tourism in Queensland and Australia and set up enduring industry structures."
