| Cowley's Fishing Lodge |
Brisbane company director John Cowley was recently asked if he would allow a keen local fisherman to drop his boat in at Cowley's new fishing lodge on Arthur's Lake in Tasmania.
``Tell him no,'' Cowley informed his wife Janina, the pair having acquired Blue Lake Lodge from Brett and Simone Wolf a year earlier, a couple close to Princess Mary who attended the royal wedding.
``But, he is the Governor,'' Janina responded to which John reluctantly agreed to let the Guv dock his boat out front of his lodge.
Interestingly it was not the Governor of Tasmania that turned up to fish but rather a gent called Major General Michael Jeffery, the Governor of Australia.
The day went splendidly and the Cowley's are now busy welcoming similar guests of the stature of the Governor to their thriving little resort.
Distinguished Queensland academic Harry Messel, AC, CBE, is a fan of the lodge, recently landing his 1000th fish at Blue Lake Lodge, a 1.4kg brown trout.
The Cowleys have big plans for Blue Lake, expanding the accommodation, which currently sleeps six in three separate cabins at a cost of about $1,000 a night - including a day's fishing on the lake. |
