Once upon a time, Queensland wine was viewed pretty much as vinegar by most of the vino tasting experts in the country.
Today it's a touch better with a proliferation of Queensland wines and wineries having opened their doors.
When people travel they usually want to get a real taste of the destination, but until now, visitors to Queensland have had little opportunity to discover Queensland wines in most of the State's hotels, despite their growing reputation and quality.
But that is all set to change with the launch of Mercure Hotels Grands Vins concept, which is designed to showcase the wines of the local region.
Mercure is launching regional wine lists in States across Australia, including Queensland.
It is the first time a major hotel group has given such significant support for Queensland's wine industry.
The launch of the series begin at 4 pm to 6pm on Thursday March 27 at Quays Bar, Mercure, at North Quay.
A hotel spokesman said guests will be able to taste from the selection and enjoy quality local Queensland produce that has been prepared to complement the four particular styles that make up the Mercure Grands Vins collection.
"It is not only good for the Queensland wine industry, it is going to be significant for Queensland tourism bringing the fruits and flavours of Queensland to Mercure guests from around Australia and around the world," she said. |
