SKYCITY celebrates SUCCESS at Northern Territory TOURISM Awards
SKYCITY Darwin scooped the pool at the 2008 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards held on Saturday night, taking home four awards. The Brolga Awards recognize and encourage innovation, quality and excellence within the Northern Territory tourism industry.
The awards won by SKYCITY are:
Winner – Luxury Accommodation
Winner – Tourism Restaurants and Catering
Winner – Tourism Education and Training
Winner – Chairman’s Choice Award for Business Excellence
The Chairman’s Choice Award recognizes the most outstanding 2008 Brolga Tourism Award entrant for having achieved all-round business excellence.
SKYCITY Darwin General Manager, Andrew Wilson, attributes the properties ongoing success to its staff and facilities.
“Our staff are our greatest asset, with their continued dedication, excellent customer service and expertise in every area of the business from hotel housekeeping to our chefs and waiters, property services staff and our gaming and casino support staff. We have a fantastic team we are incredibly proud of.
“We continually review and upgrade our facilities and the product we offer on a regular basis, to ensure we are meeting our customers needs and expectations” said Mr Wilson.
The Minister for Tourism, Kon Vatskalis, attended the awards night held at the Darwin Convention Centre on Saturday. “Tourism is a key economic driver for our economy, and an industry that employs 12% of Territorians,” said Mr Vatskalis.
“The Brolga Awards is the night of nights for the Northern Territory tourism industry. It is a pleasure to recognise the professionals who make it their business to encourage visitors to Share our Story.
“Winners will be honoured for their excellence and innovation which has underpinned our continued growth and development of the industry.”
