During March and April the state plays host to events as varied as the Bothwell International Highland Spin - a wool spinning and weaving festival - through to the Targa Tasmania rally car race.
In March tourists are lured by the King Island Agricultural Show through to the Fingal Valley Festival where events include the world coal shovelling and roof bolting championships along with a tree felling and shearing contests.
Things hot up in April with the Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race, an epic test of endurance, courage and skill when crack crews of sailors and mountain runners race from the Tamar to ascent peaks on Flinders Island, Freycinet Peninsula and Hobart's Mount Wellington.
Then follows the legendary Targa where 300 of the world's best touring, sports and GT rally cars compete on closed roads through Tasmania's scenic routes and mountain passes. |
